Engineering the Perfect Short-Sleeve Shirt

The Short-Sleeve:

In the hot and humid weather of Houston and Cape Canaveral, homes of NASA’s Johnson and Kennedy Space Centers respectively, short-sleeves were the shirt of choice for flight controllers. Sans skinny ties and with a tidier arm, our Aero and Hybrid Short-Sleeves are an homage to this uniform, but brought into the modern day with three tweaks.

Three Updates to the Classic

  1. Crisp 3D Collar: The Aero and Hybrid feature our signature 3D-Collar with built-in collar stays for a crisp, stand-up collar that's machine washable.

  2. Un-tucked Length: The Aero and Hybrid Short Sleeve is 2" shorter in the front and back body length than traditional dress shirts, that allows the shirt to be worn un-tucked. An untucked shirt will allow more air-flow allowing you to stay cooler in the summer months. We designed it so that it covers the buckle and extends approximately 1/2 down the pant zipper. This will vary with wearer torso length and height.

  3. Sharp Sleeves: We designed this for a contemporary, sharp fit but that is still easy to wear. Not Hawaiian nor old-school NASA-engineer length.

    • Mid-Arm 18" Sleeve Length: The sleeve length is 18" for a medium and grades -/+ 1" for each size.

    • 1" Slimmer Bicep: A common mistake for short sleeves - that they're simply lopped off at the arm, we made ours about 1" slimmer at the bicep - so it still fits the same individual, but isn't floppy. The extra room in the long-sleeve dress shirt is needed for flexing the elbow (not muscles) - but no elbows here! Our tapered short sleeves will fit the same, but will look much more tailored than if it we cut off at the mid-arm.
