Mid-Year Founders' Update
Boston, MA | July 1, 2018
Hi Folks,
As we sit down to write this note, a lot is happening here at HQ. We're all finishing up with a big move (about 1.5 miles), Sherri is measuring a pre-production sample of a new quarter-zip (coming soon!), Geraldo and Timothy are mid-photo-shoot (new products coming later this month), and Taylor and Brian are walking through a new version of the DPM (our forecast). And that’s just the start: Others tackle R&D challenges, customer service opportunities, and so much more. Meanwhile, our seven retail teams take great care of you in our stores, the fulfillment center is busy packing your gear, and our three factories carefully build new products.
But, to cut to the chase - we want to use this update to give you a sense on where we are, and where we’re going. So here goes:
So far this year, we had a few big milestones: Our first ever “wearable device” (an Intelligent Heated Jacket), a collaborative shoe with New Balance, and a new version of our Women’s Kinetic Pant. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive on all of these, and we're thrilled by the opportunity to continue inventing new products for you.
There’s so much more to come this year. Our Washington, D.C.-area stores relocated last week to a new location at Tysons Galleria, and we have a new store (or two) in the works. A bunch of new product launches are coming up, including men’s denim, a new Merino-based fabric technology, and a new women’s dress.
We also have a lot to celebrate! We've added team members in HQ and our retail stores; moved into a new office on Newbury St.; and we're working on a couple of social initiatives including collaborations with Deliver Fund (fighting human trafficking) and STEM Scouts (aligned with Gihan’s bike ride across the country!). Also, just this week, three of our team members shared that they've gotten engaged!
Finally, since no update is complete without a few numbers…..
3,358 miles biked by Gihan between Memorial Day and Independence Day. He wore a modified Apollo 3 Polo for 36/38 days of the ride.
2,970 Mercury Intelligent Heated Jackets currently in production.
1,260 Estimated minutes we’ve spent on the phone with our entire team during “GM x HQ Sync” - our weekly all-hands where we connect on big plans, and encourage Steve to use the mute button when he’s not talking.
3 New LABS products so far this year.
Our mission remains the same as always: invent apparel that makes a positive impact on your day. Thanks, again and again, for letting us continue to pursue that vision.
Sincerely,
Gihan, Aman, and the Ministry of Supply team
