Introducing
Reengineered from the ground up using 100% Grade 1 recycled polyester and milled under solar power, the Aero Zeroº fabric allows us to make a massive reduction in our garments’ carbon emissions. For what we can’t reduce, we’re offsetting through investments in solar power production.
Reduced virgin materials.
100% Utilization of all plastics.
Energy-efficient milling.
Woven with solar power.
Analysis from the MIT Consulting Group with data from Stockholm Environment Institute, ECTA, UK 2019 GHG Report and Systain.
Typical dress shirt based on fabric milling and production in Fuzhou, China and local electric emissions intensities.
Aero Zeroº and Aero Shirts are milled in Taiwan, now with solar power and local electric emission intensities.
Consumer use includes washing, drying and dry cleaning energy consumption over garments lifespan.
By using recycled polyester, we’re able to reduce the reliance on virgin polyester derived from petroleum that must be extracted, refined and polymerized. This results in a significantly reduced carbon footprint.
Clear PET bottle chips ready for extrusion.
We use pure, Global Recycle Standard Certified Plastic from water-bottles sourced from Japan. Sorting is an energy intensive process, but Japanese recycling protocols minimize incinerated waste by separating recycling into multiple streams. Clear PET bottles have their own stream, which ensures we’re able source 100% Grade 1 Recycled Plastic without contamination, and achieve the optic white necessary in dress shirts.
Recycled PET pellets extruded into filament fibers.
Aero Zeroº fabric is milled under 12.2 acres of solar power at Shinkong Textile’s Dashi fabric mill - one of the most energy efficient mills on the planet. The fabric is woven on the Belgian Piconal Optimax weaving machine - the most energy efficient weaving machine in the industry.
Spun and woven on the Belgian Piconal Optimax - the most energy efficient weaving loom in the in the industry.
During cut-and-sew production, typically 35% of fabric is discarded, scrapped and down-cycled as general fiber. With our partners at Shinkong Synthetic Fibers and Shinkong Textile, we are able to recover these high-purity, 100% polyester scraps and recycle them back into high-performance shirting fabric. We’re seeking to achieve near 100% utilization of our raw materials through this process.
The bi-component yarn is extruded in a helical, crimped shape to create a high-loft yarn that is incredibly soft to the touch. This also gives Aero Zeroº a premium matte appearance.
The twist and coil of the fiber allows for unparalleled mechanical stretch and resilience, all day, wash after wash. Aero Zeroº is our stretchiest woven shirting by over 32%.
Our continuous filament fiber is significantly stronger than comparative fabrics, which attempt similar levels of softness by using short, staple fibers that are easily dislodged during the washing process.
For every Aero Zeroº Shirt, 22 PET bottles are recycled and transformed into a high-performance, incredibly soft and stretchy shirt. It’s a new way of approaching sustainability that improves performance, comfort and durability, and it all starts with Zeroº.
